Strawberry Patch Pillow Cover Featuring Shades Fabric

Hi there! It’s Gracey from Burlap and Blossom Patterns and I’m so excited to share a new pillow cover pattern with you and share all about the Riley Blake Designs Shades fabric collection! While it may currently be Fall, there’s always a piece of my heart that longs for bright, happy colors, warm and sunny days, gardens, and wildflowers! This pillow cover definitely captures all of those things!

I design traditionally-pieced quilt block patterns that help quilters stitch our stories! Quilt are more than just quilts; they’re diaries, scrapbooks, journals, and songs that tell the stories of our lives. My Great-Grandma had a strawberry patch on her large farm many years ago. I’m sure it was that very strawberry patch that inspired many of her projects including a quilt that she made using all appliquéd strawberry quilt blocks! Her projects have always inspired me and I definitely see her influence in this happy pillow cover!

All of the fabrics used in this project are from the Riley Blake Designs “Shades” fabric collection! I love ALL of the RBD basics and the Shades collection is no exception! As someone who loves picture blocks, I rely on basics to give me beautiful, small-scale prints that shine in my quilt block designs. A good basic gives interest to a quilt block without overpowering the block pattern itself. The Shades collection is ideal for accomplishing just that! This fabric gives so much texture and depth to a quilt, bringing much more interest than solid fabrics would, by using the most beautiful, bright, and rich colors and a fun, distressed, lived-in, loved texture!
