Garden Dreams in Ballet Bow Skirt

Hey, hey! It’s Sarah of Sarah Jean Makes and I am so excited about this project I have made! When I heard that my friend Amber of Alderwood Studio was launching her first fabric collection, I knew I had to work with it! The whole collection is full of beautiful florals, soft and pretty colors, and lots of dreamy prints. The main print, the stunning floral vines, immediately caught my attention. The green colorway was begging to become something wearable for me and I just needed to find the right project to match it with.

After many days scouring the internet for something that I could make, I found the Ballet Bow Skirt by Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. It was a free pattern (YAY!) and was simple enough for my skill set. I’m a quilter and have only made a few garments in my recent sewing history, so approaching complicated garments is terrifying. I liked this skirt pattern because it was only rectangles (no patterns to cut!) and finished all the seams in the process. Easy peasy!

I am wild over how this skirt came together and how beautifully it showcases the floral fabric. I want to make a hundred more now!

Thanks for following along with my sewing journey! If you want to see more of what I’m up to, follow me on Instagram @SarahJeanMakes or sign up for my email newsletter here.
