Beggar’s Night from Sandy Gervais
My mom was a lover of Halloween. My father made a giant witch in a moon. They hung said witch high up in the walnut tree in their front yard. There was a spotlight on her and you could see her for miles. Mom and her sidekick Pearl (in their 60’s and 70’s) always went trick-or-treating…mostly tricking. The witch in the moon on the panel is a tracing of dad’s witch. And one has to wonder… is that a little girl dressed up as an old lady or is it an old lady trick-or-treating? And the ghost?…could that be Millie’s sidekick Pearl? When we cleaned out the farm I inherited the witch and now I hang her in our yard. My sister suggested I do a fabric line using dad’s witch. Done.
Now you know the rest of the story.
