Confetti Cotton Solids in the Sunset Star Quilt
Hey there! It’s Sarah of Sarah Jean Makes and I’m thrilled to share with you my newest quilt pattern: Sunset Star! I’ve used the Confetti Cotton solids in Eggplant, Purple, Fuchsia, Super Pink, Cheddar, and Canary for the main feature of the quilt and the Blossom in Tone-On-Tone White as the background.
Typically, I design my quilts based on landmarks in San Francisco, where I live. However, I took a different approach to this quilt design. I pulled nostalgic elements of quilting, such as the Sawtooth Star, as well as fond memories of my beginning years here in the city. I thought back to the first apartment my spouse and I moved into in the Sunset District. It was teeny tiny, and we were barely scraping by. We weren’t sure how we would survive in this busy city with the rapid change of pace and the ever-constant struggle to make ends meet. We made a lot of sacrifices, but kept pushing forward and finding little joys along the way. This design represents to me the simplicity of our first years, the drive to move ourselves forward, and the appreciation I have for the foundations of where it all began.
This quilt pattern is rated at a Confident Beginner level and comes in three sizes, Baby, Throw, and Bed, with the Throw sized pictured here. It is Fat Quarter friendly and can be assembled in a scrappy-style layout, or as a gradient shown in the pictures.
Pattern is available at Sarah Jean Makes and wholesale options are available for quilt shops. Be sure to follow me on Instagram at SarahJeanMakes for all things quilty!
