Hello there quilty friends! Mary from Ember Craft Company here and today I am sharing this gorgeous Heart Cookies Quilt I made (pattern is by the talented Krista Moser and can be found here!). I got my hands on a few of the beautiful prints from the new Blush ‘n Butterscotch collection by Simple Simon & Company for this one, and I think I might be OBSESSED.
Now, if you’ve been around my content at all, you’ll know that pinks and ochres and browns together is my absolute favorite. And to find a collection that already curated these together for me was magical.

I originally had a different pattern in mind when I cherry-picked a few of the pretty pink, gold, and cinnamon prints from the collection. Yes, it was also a heart quilt, but the moment I saw Krista share this latest pattern a few weeks ago, I did a major pivot and was so glad to be able to make it work with the yardage I had on hand! The heart cookie theme is perfect for this time of year and I love that the sides are not squared off (although I am hoping I still love it when I’m ready to bind it…)!

Now, this pattern uses 60-degree angles and one of the easiest ways to cut these shapes is by using one of Krista’s 60-degree diamond rulers by Creative Grids – I’m using the Mini version (you can find it here or check your local quilt shop!).
Krista also has an excellent free YouTube tutorial with great details on cutting and constructing these blocks if you’ve never tried sewing these angles before.
This pattern comes together surprisingly quickly and while there are some bias edges to deal with, they can actually be a little forgiving when seams don’t quite line up.
I alternated the light and darker pink prints for the hearts and am just in love with how this turned out!

I snuck this top up into the hills above where we live for a quick photo session before bringing it home to be quilted. It was a bit windy as a storm is moving in here this weekend and the hills are just starting to turn green, but I love how it looks blowing in the breeze. I just finished basting this and am still deciding how I want to quilt this sweet thing – if you have any suggestions for me, please leave them in the comments!
That’s it for now, make sure to find me on Instagram here to see how I finish this sweet quilt!
Best,
Mary
