Plum Petals Atlas Zipper Case
The Plum Petals collection by Diane Labombarde is so beautiful! The vibrant purples and greens remind me of the beginning days of spring when the grass is starting to grow, flowers bloom and the days are getting longer. The prints evokes feelings of hope and cheer.
With this collection, I made the Atlas Zipper Case by Center Street Quilts. This zipper pouch is a great patterns to use an assortment of prints since there are opportunities on the outside and inside of the pouch to use different fabrics.
For the front of my zipper case, I used the Plum Petals Main Green fabric for a sophisticated look. To add a hint of sass I sewed in a Sarah Hearts “Thanks, I made it” label. It’s a small detail but it makes me smile because I know my friends will ask me if I made the this project 🙂
The inside of the zipper case is bright and happy with the vinyl pockets showcasing the darling Small Flowers Fern print and Floral Cloud print.
For the lining of the main panel, I used the Riley Blake Basics Lavender Shade fabric. The color matches the collection perfectly and the subtle texture adds movement.
For the binding, zipper tab, and zipper pulls, I used the Swirl Lilac print. I love how the print brings everything together while also adding a bit of interest, even though it’s used in small amounts.
This zipper case is a fun project and can have endless uses. The size is great to hold a mini tablet, notebooks, pens, and other items. It can also be great for traveling to hold passports, tickets, etc in a handy organized place.
Speaking of travel, after making this zipper case I’m tempted to make a whole matching travel set including a duffle bag, backpack, and cosmetic case. Imagine how cute that would look!
Happy sewing!
