The Old Soul Quilt in Buds & Butterflies

The Old Soul Quilt by Charlie Bear Quilts is a tribute to those rare souls who carry the weight of time in their hearts—those who’ve always felt a little out of place in the modern world. To those who understand that beauty lies in the simplest of things, in the quiet moments, and understand the true essence of things. With two distinct layout styles, this quilt lets you weave your own story, tailor-made to fit the scrappy treasures you’ve gathered along your quilting journey.

As we face yet another snow storm in Manitoba, Canada… this stunning collection by Cayla Naylor is really helping my mood. This collection has ALL my favourite things: ditsy florals, whimsical touches and perfectly pink hues (and I can’t get enough of that sprig of green).

Old Soul, The Unframed Version

This version swaps out each block’s border print for more background fabric. It gives the quilt a lighter, airy feel. By adding this negative space, the hearts and stars are more pronounced for a modern take on the same design. Old Soul will be ON SALE until December 1st!

This collection captures the essence of a blooming garden. With soft yet lively colours, floral patterns and whimsical butterflies, these prints bring a fresh, spring-inspired vibe!

Let’s Make an Old Soul Block!

How many of you like to pick your favourite block out when you’re done your quilt??? I can’t be the only one…. in any case, this is mine! I used all my favourite prints from the collection.

For a more uniform look, keep the star fabrics in the same rotation in each block as seen below.

I just HAD to use the Butterfly Ballet pantograph by Urban Elementz. Love how the quilting echoes the fabric. Who doesn’t love a theme??

For the backing, I’ve used a Luxe Cuddle Hide minky in Rosewater (my favourite colour). I like the way the butterflies pop out, adding another whimsical element to this heirloom.

Which version will you make?
