Fall Floral Placemats with Chunky Thread

It’s Kristen from Verity Vintage Studio, back with another crochet project featuring Chunky Thread! We are having a lovely autumn this year, and I certainly had fun with my fall project for the blog.

I wanted to show off how versatile even a few simple crochet stitches can be, so I designed a fresh & fun placemat pattern to use just 2 of the most basic stitches!

It starts with an easy modified granny square, which then has a solid section added to one side to make it a rectangle.

A fold-down patch style pocket is added to hold the silverware and napkin, and decorated with a cute little wreath in fall-colored scraps.

(I added it to the left, but you can easily swap directions and add the pocket for the right side of the plate instead.)

Chunky Thread is perfect for this since it’s washable cotton, ideal for table settings that might need frequent laundering!

The easy daisy pattern (also using just those 2 simple stitches) can be made in any color variation you wish, and while I went with a wreath for decoration, there were so many options for how to arrange the flowers on the pocket – all of them cute.

Raindrop and Wheat were the perfect color combo. I love the spruce green of Raindrop, and they were a good fall-toned neutral for my table settings. But you could make them in any color combo desired, matching each other or with reversed colors like I did here.

If you’re looking for a way to dress up your table this autumn, I hope you give these a try! Find the pattern download here.
