Hey Pumpkin- Stella Rose Quilt

Hi Makers! It’s Sara from @SaraBQuilts! Sometimes I have a hard time sewing seasonal fabric when it is off-season, but today I am sharing a Halloween fabric that I would sew with year-round! Hey Pumpkin by Riley Blake Designs and My Mind’s Eye is more of a ghost party with Halloween on the side. With fun prints and pink mixed in, there is nothing not to love about this collection!

With spider webs, ghosts, and candy corn, Hey Pumpkin has the traditional elements of a Halloween fabric collection, but the party hats, dancing skeletons, and smiling faces make it a unique and exciting collection to play with! I personally love the Hey Pumpkin Checks in Pink the most!

For my project, I decided to make Prairie Quilt Co’s Stella Rose quilt. You can find the pattern HERE.
I chose to make it a rectangle quilt and had to cut out two of the borders (plan your fabric purchase carefully for this pattern- it takes a lot of fabric!) but I absolutely love how it came together.

While the blocks look challenging with all of the HSTs, they came together surprisingly fast and really showcase the fabric! I really enjoyed contrasting the pink with the black and the white with the orange. My favorite pairing was Hey Pumpkin Main in Pink with Hey Pumpkin Stars in Charcoal.

The Stella Rose pattern calls for sashing in between the blocks, so I picked Riley Blake Designs Coordinating Basic POParazzi in Black on Cream and love how it looks and compliments the colors of Hey Pumpkin. While it may not photograph well, the black on cream looks like a grey fabric from far away but has some personality up close!

I decided to use Riley Blake Designs Coordinating Basic Dapple Dot in Marmalade as the backing and Hey Pumpkin Web in Pink for the binding. I think it is going to look so good when it is all quilted and finished!

I know it will be a party in your sewing room when you use Riley Blake Design’s Hey Pumpkin! I am excited to see what everyone makes with it!
Happy making!
