Places You’ll Go – New Beginnings
Aloha from Kauai! I thought it appropriate that I start my blogging journey for Riley Blake with the quilt design/pattern that I use to teach Beginning Quilting. This is a design by FabShop Network and Debbie Welch, Quilting Possibilities.
It is a combination of the traditional 9-patch and Monkey Wrench blocks, creating a secondary design. For my new quilters, I have them choose three fabrics for the blocks and the inner border and a fourth fabric for the outer border… however… the “Places You Will Go” line lent itself to adding a fifth color for the inner border and binding.

I love the high contrast and deep color saturation on these batiks. The fun beachy tjaps fit the island
vibe.

Take a look at those beach huts! I could not resist putting a wide feature border on to frame the quilt.

For backing, I used Painter’s Watercolor Swirl by J. Wrecker Frisch. I quilted it on my Gammill Statler stitcher using the Flip Flops At the Beach E2E design by Lily Street Patterns, Marci Gore.
Mahalo for joining me on my journey!
