Forever Neverland- Flicker and Cherish Quilts

Hi Makers! It is Sara Brown from @SaraBQuilts with a look at Jill Howarth’s and Riley Blake Design’s new collection Forever Neverland! I am a huge fan of Jill Howarth’s illustrations and have loved every fabric collection she has made for Riley Blake Designs. Forever Neverland is no exception with its whimsical images and unique color way. I love Forever Neverland so much that I decided to make two quilts with it!

The purples, pinks, teals, and citrons in Forever Neverland were begging to be made into a color gradient quilt and I couldn’t pick just one so I planned out both! For color gradient quilts (and English paper pieced quilts) I like to make a digital mockup of the quilt so that I can really visualize what the quilt will look like. I chose Taralee Quiltery’s Flicker Quilt (you can find it HERE) and Tales of Cloth’s Cherish quilt (you can find it HERE) for the Forever Neverland fabric and they are perfect patterns for these fabrics.

I was very pleased with how my Forever Neverland mockups turned out and could not wait to get started on my quilts! For the Flicker quilt, I used the gorgeous Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cotton in Mediterranean as my background color and WOW it is a perfect complement to every single fabric in the Forever Neverland collection. I especially love it with Pixie Dust in Periwinkle and Tink in Mist. While I was most excited to cut into Main in Princess and Mermaid Lagoon in Pink, Palm Stripe in Songbird, Tropical Floral in Night, and Tink in Lemongrass really stole the show for me!

My English paper pieced quilt will take me some time to finish but I am really enjoying the process of fussy cutting the Forever Neverland fabric and sticking to a strict color gradient throughout the blocks. It is so fun to watch color gradient quilts grow and move from color to color. The fabrics in Forever Neverland make that color transition so easy! I chose to make the 6″ block version of the Cherish quilt because the Forever Neverland illustrations are better suited for that size. I then designed my own border and appliqué pieces using Riley Blake Designs Dainty Daisy in Lilac.

My boys have already claimed my Forever Neverland Flicker quilt for their fort making, so I will be getting it quilted and bound as quickly as I can! I am so excited to watch them discover all of the fussy cut images of Peter Pan, Wendy, and the mermaids.

I am excited to continue working on my Forever Neverland Cherish quilt this summer and cannot wait to see both of my Forever Neverland quilts side by side! Forever Neverland is a wonderful collection for adults and children and I will adore these quilts for a long time to come!

Happy Making!
