Forest Village – Folk Fables Quilt

Hi, Tamara here from Remi Vail Studio! I’m so excited to share my Folk Fables Quilt, which I made using the Forest Village collection designed by Little Forest Atelier for Riley Blake Designs. This whimsical collection, with its woodland-inspired prints and soft, earthy hues, was the perfect match for this cozy, storybook-style quilt.

Why I Love the Forest Village Collection

There’s something magical about the Forest Village Collection. From the tiny acorns to the hand-drawn trees and playful woodland creatures, each print feels like a page from a fairytale. The soft pinks, sage greens, and deep blues create a peaceful, nostalgic palette – exactly the kind of colors I love to work with!

For this quilt, I paired the collection with a few coordinating Riley Blake Designs basics.

  • Binding: Sage on Ivory Stripe
  • Backing: Baby Pink Sparkler

The Folk Fables Quilt

The Folk Fables Quilt is all about simplicity, texture, and showcasing beautiful fabrics. This pattern features strip-pieced sections that allow prints to shine while keeping the piecing beginner-friendly. It’s a perfect project for those who love a scrappy, textural look without complex construction.

The Folk Fables Quilt pattern releases April 2025.

Quilting Details

Design

I love how quilting can bring a quilt to life! I used the Abundance pantograph by Sew Shabby Quilting. The whimsical branches, berries, and leaves felt like an extension of the print illustrations.

Longarm Quilting with Aurifil Thread

For quilting, I used Aurifil 40/3 weight in Light Grey Green (#2843). This weight gives the stitches a bit more presence without overwhelming the design. I love how it sinks into the wool batting to provide beautiful definition.

Adding the Finishing Touches to My Folk Fables Quilt

Binding with a Flange Detail

To finish the quilt, I added a flange binding for a little pop of color and an extra touch of texture. If you’re curious about trying this technique, I’ve put together a Step-by-Step Tutorial to guide you through the process!

Let’s Get Quilting!

I hope this quilt inspires you to play with the Forest Village collection and create something cozy and nostalgic of your own!
