Pattern
For this pillowcase, I used the FREE Roll-It-Up Pillowcase pattern from American Patchwork & Quilting. During my search for the perfect pattern, I stumbled upon a treasure trove of free pillowcase patterns as part of their 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge. French Seams
This pattern calls for a French seam, which might sound tricky but is actually quite easy once you get the hang of it. Unlike traditional seams, you’ll start by sewing wrong sides together. The pattern instructions are super clear, but I made a small tweak to ensure my raw edges were tucked neatly away.
Here’s my trick:
- Start by sewing with wrong sides together using a tiny 1/8-inch seam.
- Then, flip it to right sides together and sew a slightly larger than 1/4-inch seam.
This slight adjustment helped keep my raw edges hidden and my seams neat, making everything look polished.
Note: If you’ve got a serger, feel free to use it for quicker construction, but I personally love the neat and polished finish that French seams give, especially on a pillowcase.

Thank You
I hope you enjoy making this pillowcase as much as I did! It’s the perfect way to bring a little more color and personality into your space.
