Forest Village in Basic Blocks Nine Patch Quilt

Hey, hey! It’s Sarah of Sarah Jean Makes and I have a sweet creation to share with you today!

There’s something magical about the way certain colors and patterns can transport you back in time, when life felt a bit more simple and easy. For me, the Forest Village collection instantly takes me to the days of my childhood, reminding me of a simple whole cloth quilt my grandmother made for me. Her quilt was a sage green on one side and a tiny pink floral against a cream background on the other. As soon as I saw this collection, with its sweet pinks, serene greens, and calming blues, I couldn’t help but feel like I was holding a piece my grandmother’s quilt all over again.

I loved playing with these fabrics, mixing and matching tones against each other. I recently started a “Basic Block” series on my website that provides step-by-step instructions for many of the classic quilt blocks. This month’s feature was on the Nine Patch and I love how the simple design showcases the fabrics so beautifully. This quilt uses the nine inch blocks and I opted for a scrappy look, which turned out beautifully.

Thank you for checking out my most recent creation. I hope you love playing with this sweet fabric as much as I did!
