Pebble by Pebble: A Checkered Creation

Have You Ever Wondered if Gingham, Plaid, and Checkers Are the Same?

They look pretty similar, right? Here’s a quick breakdown: Checkers is a bold, simple pattern of evenly spaced squares, usually in contrasting colors like black and white. It’s perfect for adding a clean, graphic look to quilts and other projects (Jackson, 2019). Unlike gingham or plaid, it’s straightforward and packs a punch with its minimalist style, making it a fun choice for both modern and traditional designs.

Hello, Friends! It’s Sandy from Thai Charm here, and I’m back with another fun project to share with you. Before we dive right in, let’s take a moment to enjoy all the beautiful colors in the new fabrics from the Check Please! Collection.

It’s so hard to pick just a few favorites, so I used most of the colors in the collection to make this Pebbles Quilt. It’s super fun, quick, and the best part is that it’s Layer Cake or 10″ Stacker friendly.

The Pebbles Quilt uses the Stitch and Flip (SNF) method to create each block. If you’re new to quilting, SNF is a beginner-friendly technique where a smaller fabric piece (usually a square or rectangle) is sewn onto a larger piece along a diagonal line, then flipped to form a new shape. This simple process makes the Pebbles Quilt the perfect pattern for your first quilting project.

Pebbles Quilt is now available in the shop along with other great patterns that I know you would love too. Check it out at the link below. Be sure to tag me on Instagram @ThaiCharmllc and use the hashtag #ThaiCharmPatterns when you share your creations—I love seeing your projects!
