Patchwork Hearts Quilt with You & Me by Sandy Gervais

Sandy Gervais’s new fabric line You & Me is so sweet and delightful, it overflows with love.

I took inspiration from the line and made a heart quilt, the Patchwork Hearts pattern by Quilty Love to be exact. This pattern was perfect for highlighting all the red fabrics as the hearts and to use the light pinks, light teals, and creams as the backgrounds.

For this quilt there were two rules I gave myself – (1) have all the prints go in the same direction and (2) try not to have any same print touch.

Since I struggle with directionality in piecing, this quilt pattern gave me a lot of practice. By the end of making all the hearts for the throw size quilt, I was a master!

This is one of the few quilts I’ve made that’s totally scrappy and without a traditional solid background fabric. I love how the quilt turned out! Using all the prints together it gives the quilt a super cozy vibe.

This collection features three main large scale prints in cream, red, and mist that are gorgeous. The heart blocks in the pattern are too small to give the big prints justice, so I used all three prints on the back of the quilt. Pieced backings are my favorite!

For the quilting, I chose to do simple wavy lines on my domestic sewing machine. I learned this technique from watching Emily Dennis, who happens to have also written this pattern 🙂

To finish off the scrappiness of this quilt, I added a scrappy binding. I feel it was the perfect way to finish off this scrappy, cozy, heartfelt quilt.

What will you make with this beautiful fabric collection?

Happy sewing!
