Two Loves: Creating Stylish Bucket Hats with Perennial Fabric & AccuQuilt’s new Hat Die Cut!

I recently had the pleasure of working with two new tools that have quickly become my absolute favorites: the beautiful Perennial Fabric by Jill Finley for Riley Blake Designs and the Bucket Hat Die Cut by AccuQuilt! Together, they make the perfect team for creating stylish, elevated bucket hats that add just the right touch of flair to any outfit.

Why am I so in LOVE with the Perennial Collection & Bucket Hat Die Cut?

Well, the Perennial fabric collection by Jill Finley is simply stunning! The designs offer a fresh, modern take on florals that feels sophisticated yet playful. The fabric is high-quality and durable, making it an ideal choice for hats that can withstand day-to-day wear, whether it’s for a casual workday, a relaxed stroll around town, or a chic brunch with friends.

And the AccuQuilt Bucket Hat Die…well, it’s a GAME-CHANGER for me! I’ve always shied away from hat making, but now I feel like a pro! Cutting fabric for hats can be tricky and time-consuming, but with this die, every piece comes out perfectly shaped, with notches and ready to sew. This little tool turned the cutting process into a breeze, giving me more time to focus on the fun part – putting it all together.

I’m so excited to walk y’all through the process! This project is so beginner-friendly, fresh-funky, and with the AccuQuilt die, you’ll be amazed at how easy it is to create hats that look professionally made. Like really! Y’all, I was wearing my hat while shopping, someone asked it was from a near-by high-end boutique!!!! Working with such beautiful fabric makes the final product feel and look extra special. Here goes..

• Gather Materials
  • Perennial Fabric
  • Accu Go die cut machine
  • Bucket Hat Die (newly released)
  • Coordinating Thread
  • Fusible Light Material
  • Basic Sewing Tools
• Cut the Fabric (you will need follow the pattern directions for cut sizes and etc.)
  • Using the Bucket Hat Die, I was able to cut all the necessary pieces, outer and inner lining) in two passes within no time. I found it totally satisfying because of how quickly and precisely the die cuts the fabric. PERFECT!
• Assemble the Pieces
  • With the cutting complete, head over to the your sewing machine! Sew the pieces together following the die’s pattern. You will be making an inner and outer pieces. Like all Riley Blake Design fabric, the Perennial quilt fabric was high-quality which made stitching smooth and a dream to work with.
• Finishing Touches
  • After you assemble your hat, be creative, add personal touches such a fabric flowers, trim or ribbons. Make it your own! Check out AccuQuilt for more ideas.
• SHOW IT OFF!
  • Whether you’re wearing it to work, out shopping, or at brunch, this bucket hat is guaranteed to add a little stylish flair to any outfit.

Now, do you see why I say my two favorite loves! RBD’s Perennial fabric and the Bucket Hat Die is a match made in my quilty heaven! These two tools have quickly become essentials in my sewing room and I can’t wait to create more pieces with them.
