Twice Baked Quilt with Swiss Dots

This is Holly Clarke from Holly Clarke Design on the blog tour to share the quilt I made with one of my fave Riley Blake Designs Basics called Swiss Dots. You can find out more about me and my work on my website at https://hollyclarkedesign.com and over on Instagram at @holdmyseamripper.

When I found out that there was a new palette of Swiss Dots colours, I jumped at the chance to make my brand new pattern, the Twice Baked quilt, with it. The pattern is pre-cut friendly so I was able to make it with fat quarters and background yardage. I chose a rainbow of colours (Cayenne, Hot Pink, Autumn, Golden, Yellow, Green, Teal, Mermaid’s Tail, Iris, and Navy) along with Swiss Dots Rainbow for my background fabric.

Fabric cut into squares to make Half Square Triangles

The pattern is called “Twice Baked” because just like a twice baked potato, this quilt is made more delightful as the result of a two step method. It’s made up of Half Square Triangles that are cut up, rearranged and made into Quarter Circles. How fun is that!

Once all the quarter circles are made, it’s time for the fun part of mixing and matching the units to make up the square blocks. I challenged myself to distribute the colours evenly throughout the whole layout.

The Swiss Dots fabric adds a playful texture to the design. I’m so happy with how this quilt turned out. Here are some photos of my finished Twice Baked quilt. I can’t wait to cuddle up under it when the weather gets cold.
