Sweetest Fussy Baby Quilt with Vintage Charm
As the weather cools and the kids head back to school, I find myself with more time in the sewing room. I’m excited to dive into projects featuring the Vintage Charm fabric collection by Dani Mogstad, which showcases delightful apples, playful dots, and lovely florals.
This is also the perfect time to stock up on handmade quilts and gifts, as the holiday season will be here before you know it. I love making baby quilts or lap-sized quilts as gifts for friends and family with new babies or toddlers. It brings me such joy to see those little hands dragging the quilts around because they just can’t live without them!
I found this adorable woolen quilt designed by my friend “Abby Maed“. I love that this pattern features larger blocks and strips, allowing me to showcase the beautiful prints in this collection. While the original pattern uses the background fabric for the border strips, I decided to incorporate this dot print to make the baby quilt even sweeter.
One of many ways to make a baby quilt fun is to add fussy edges to it.
Here’s a quick guide to prepare your quilt and attach your fussy Chenille-it bias binding.
Once the Chenille binding is attached, simply place the quilt in the washer and tumble dry on low. Then just wait for the magic to happen!
And just like that, we did it! Do you ever feel like rewarding yourself after checking things off your list? This is one of those moments for me. I decided to make myself a mini iron travel case, using a pattern by Minki Kim. Of course, I couldn’t resist adding her adorable chicken label.
