Reversible Riley Tote with Mansfield Park
‘Tis the season for curling up with a cup of warm tea and a favorite book! If historical charm is your forte, you must check out Mansfield Park, the newest fabric collection by Jane Austen at Home. The palette and prints of Mansfield Park are perfect for creating a project with an antique style that blurs the lines between old and new.
While there are a beautiful range of blues within the collection, this project features the warm sepia, rich brown, and antique red prints for a fall style project. I chose to make the Reversible Riley Tote, which is a simple tote pattern featuring an updated rectangular gingham pattern on one side and a single fabric on the reversible side. I originally designed this tote pattern a few years ago as a beach carryall for my daughter, Riley, but she has since used it for just about everything, including schoolbooks. This is a fun pattern to make if you’re just venturing into bag making; the pattern can be found at ritualquiltcompany.com.
This tote uses the Rushworth, Mrs. Norris, Betsy, and Sotherton Court prints for the gingham side.
The reverse side features the Sotherton Court print.
The pattern includes an optional zipper pouch, made from pieces left over from the Riley tote construction.
The Mansfield Park collection is so timeless and versatile; don’t you think these prints would make a lovely book cover? That’s definitely on my to-make list! I can’t wait to see what you make with these historical fabrics. If you’re on social media, don’t forget to tag your projects with #RileyBlakeDesigns and #ILoveRileyBlake.
