The Hello Spring Quilt with 100 Aker Woods

Hi Makers! It’s Sara from @SaraBQuilts here to talk about my new favorite quilt using a brand new collection by Riley Blake Designs and Jill Howarth- 100 Aker Woods! This collection is not just for Pooh lovers, the colors and the illustrations will make this a dream for anyone to play with!

I will admit, I had the hardest time figuring out which pattern I was going to use with this adorable fabric. From Book Nook by Pen and Paper Patterns to Cozy Cabin by Modernly Morgan, there are so many wonderful patterns to highlight 100 Aker Woods! After much consideration, I decided to make the Hello Spring quilt by Pen and Paper Patterns (found HERE).

The Picnic Meadow in Lime, the 100 Aker Woods Map in Green, and the Honey Hex in Gold made me think of the leaves of plants changing as Summer turns to Fall. I decided to make a late Summer bouquet using Option B of the Hello Spring pattern, with a few ladybugs added in!

I followed the Option B pattern but subbed in a ladybug block on each row for a fun little twist. My favorite ladybug combo is Picnic Plaid in Pink and Picnic Meadow in Sky! I had so much fun pairing all of the different colors together and loved how they all turned out, even the orange and blue ladybugs!

While I haven’t had a chance to finish my quilt yet, I will be using the Picnic Plaid in Pink as the binding and I think it will be a perfect way to frame my Hello Spring quilt! I used a Riley Blake Designs Coordinating Basic, White Tone-on-Tone Blossom, as the background fabric. If you are looking for a fantastic low volume fabric that is close to a solid but a little more exciting, this is the fabric for you! It is so crisp and sweet, and it paired perfectly with the colors of 100 Aker Woods.

I had so much fun taking my 100 Aker Woods quilt for a nature walk and a photo shoot. I hope you enjoy the illustrations and colors of 100 Aker Woods as much as I do! I can’t wait to see what you make with this collection!

Happy Making!
