Hot Wheels Made to Race – Bucket Hats
Hello Makers! It’s Sara from @SaraBQuilts with the cutest post I have written to date! It is really fun and easy to show off fabric with the adorable models I had to help me this time around. When I received my HotWheels Made to Race fabric by Riley Blake Designs my boys were ecstatic and wanted to help me make something fun! The nice thing about this collection is that HotWheels cars are just part of the story- there are checker prints, logos, and race tracks too!
I decided to make bucket hats for my boys because they recently had been asking for new hats. Not only would these be precious, they would block the sun out really well also! I let my boys pick two fabrics each for their reversible hats, and they had so much fun doing this. In the end, Wyatt picked the Black Tone-on-Tone fabric and the Navy Checker, and Miles picked the Black Car Race and the Charcoal Track Fabrics.
I used the free tutorial and pattern by Sweet Red Poppy, which can be found here. These hats are not challenging to make, but do take a little time to get them just right! Be patient, iron the seams as instructed, and take your time with the curves! My boys love that the hats are reversible and switch them from side to side throughout the day!
I hope you love these bucket hats as much as I do and if you have a child in your life, this is the perfect fabric to make something special with!
We will be outside enjoying the last days of warmth here in Michigan, riding our bikes, playing with HotWheels, and wearing our bucket hats. Happy making and I can’t wait to see the cute projects you make with the HotWheels Made to Race Collection!
