Fabric Gift Bags with Christmas Is In Town
Hi everyone, it’s Luci from Sea Garden Sewing. I had the absolute pleasure of working with Sandy Gervais’ new line Christmas is in Town. The line has a ton of festive prints, including these adorable retro ornaments!
Since my family lives across the country, I get to fly home every Christmas to visit. This means that every one of my Christmas gifts that I bring is carefully selected for size and travel-friendliness in a suitcase. Because gift wrap and gift bags can get crumpled or torn, I’ve started making a few reusable fabric bags every year. They are visually appealing and act as a secondary gift to the recipient!
I used the tutorial for free gift bags by Cotton and Bourbon to create these bags. I made one bag with a four-color exterior, and the second bag with one color exterior.
This pattern was well-written and easy to follow. If you like hearing about this gift bag pattern, you’ll be excited to hear that Cotton and Bourbon will be releasing a larger size gift bag pattern this fall.
Here are the finished bags:
Place your desired gifts inside, and tie the ‘bunny ears’ closed with a few square knots.
This next picture shows the bottom of the bag, which creates a quarter square triangle block design when you use multiple fabrics:
This was a great project and would be great for someone who is wanting to try patterns with templates. If you have any festive sewing you’d like to get done in time for the holidays, I recommend taking a look at the full Christmas is in Town line for some inspiration!
Thanks for following along, and happy sewing!
