100 Aker Woods Baby Quilt

Hey, hey! It’s Sarah of Sarah Jean Makes and I have quite the story to tell you today! As a Riley Blake Maker, I get such a privilege in being able to work with brand new fabric collections right before they hit the shops! When I learned of the 100 Aker Woods collection, my heart about jumped out of my chest. It’s so darling!

When I was able to make my requests for these fun fabrics, I had just learned that my sister-in-law was pregnant with her first baby – my first niece or nephew on my husband’s side! I was thrilled and the fates aligned perfectly with timing. I chose to work with the yellows, tans, and greens from the collection. I didn’t have a particular pattern in mind, so I referred back to one of my favorite quilting resources, the book “Quilting Adventures” by Amanda Carye.

As it goes, the fabric was a little behind schedule to get to me. I was hoping to have the quilt ready to go by early summer for the baby shower, way before the mid-August due date. Unfortunately, there were shipping delays, and I wasn’t able to get the fabric in my hands until the day before the scheduled delivery! As soon as the fabric arrived at my home, I began measuring and cutting, and chain piecing like I was in the Olympics for sewing!

The quilt came together so quickly (thank you Amanda for the excellent quilt book for guidance!), and I was able to get it quilted, bound, and washed before we met the brand new baby a week later. I am so proud of this fast, but beautiful, finish. These fabrics were a joy to work with and are perfect for a tiny human in your life!

Thanks for following along with my quilty adventures. If you’d like to keep up with all things Sarah Jean Makes, be sure to sign up for my email newsletter or follow me on Instagram.
