The Cold Front Quilt with Ski Hill
Hi Makers! It is Sara from @SaraBQuilts with another fun, seasonal collection to talk about! Riley Blake Design’s new Ski Hill collection, designed by Corinne Wells, is such a fresh take on winter colors and a classic winter activity- skiing!
I was immediately drawn to the red and teal color story, rather than the typical red and green combination for Christmas. My finished quilt feels like it can stay out all of winter, rather than just November and December, which I appreciate!
Sometimes it is hard to get a “scrappy” feel with a quilt when only using one fabric collection. Riley Blake Design’s Ski Hill focus on only 3 colors which means there are a lot of fabrics to choose from within each color! I used 4 of the 6 white-based fabrics from the collection to achieve my scrappy background. While busy, the mittens still stand out being bright reds and teals!
The Ski Hill Ski Posters in Multi is my favorite fabric of the collection. I was so pleased at how it looked as one of the solid mitten designs. The Ski Hill Skis and Ski Hill Snowflakes in Red, Aqua, and Teal made nice blenders for the smaller design parts of the pattern.
The pattern is called Cold Front by Wren Collective!
The binding was a no-brainer for me! I will always pick stripes for binding and the Ski Hill Sweater in Teal took stripes to the next level! I absolutely love how the binding turned out and the festive feel it has!
Molly Kohler from Lovely Threads used her Skating pantograph for the quilting. It is such a cute pantograph and perfect for any winter quilt!
My boys and dogs are already fighting over this Ski Hill quilt, so I am certain it will be a family favorite this winter! I am so excited to see what everyone makes with Ski Hill this winter!
Happy making,
Sara @SaraBQuilts
