A Quilted Reading Pillow Project with Swiss Dots
Our new Swiss Dot colors have arrived!! Swiss Dots have been a fan-favorite basic for years and we decided to update the basic line with some fresh colors.
We have added TWENTY FOUR new colors!! See them all on the storyboard below.
Now you can have Swiss Dot colors that perfectly match some of your favorite colors in our other basic lines!
We wanted to make a project to show off some of these new colors. Designer Melissa Mortenson of Polkadot Chair has a popular Reading Pillow tutorial that we thought would be the perfect thing! Melissa has lots of variations on this project from options to add quilting, piping, and personalization to keeping things as simple as possible. With step-by-step tutorials and videos we recommend this project to beginners and advanced sewists alike!
We pulled together a bundle of colors that we wanted to feature and decided to use Melissa’s Stacked Rectangle version so we could show off all of these colors!
You’ll cut 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strips for this version and sew together in rows to make the pocket front of your pillow.
We’re sewing this project on our fabulous Bernina 770 Quilter’s Edition Plus Machine. This machine is wonderful and has so many incredible features! We are using the #97D Patchwork Foot for this piecing to ensure an accurate seam allowance throughout. We love this foot!
Once you have that all pieced, your pocket front is ready!
Follow Melissa’s Instructions from this awesome video tutorial to finish your pillow! We’re using the new Rainbow Swiss Dot for the rest of our pillow.
We love how this turned out and will definitely be making some more!! We hope you love the new additions to Swiss Dots. You can find RBD Basics at all your favorite local and online quilt shops!
