You Scream, I scream, we all scream for… Sorbet & Sundaes? Yes!
If it’s cold and sweet, I’m in! And I’m all in for this beautiful Sorbet & Sundaes Batik fabric collection. While I’ve never been a huge fan of batiks, this collection was gorgeous enough for me to try my hand at a batik quilt. And now I’m wondering, where has this collection been my whole life!?
This collection has 24 prints in vibrant colors of blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink and several variations in-between. To add even more depth to the fabric, there are several pattern variations throughout the prints. Ranging from flowers, to straight lines, to curvy dots, these prints will not leave you disappointed!
While you can make a variety of projects using these beautiful prints, I settled on a throw size quilt. And because I really wanted to showcase these prints using larger blocks, I selected the Squared Up quilt pattern from Cotton & Joy.
One of the reasons I had been hesitant to ever make an entire project with batiks is because I’ve heard horror stories from people using batiks. From having the fabric bleed to having uneven and ugly stitches and even breaking needles because of how dense the batik fabric is. I however, was PLEASENTLY surprised! I had ZERO issues working with this fabric. There has been zero bleeding; and I used a spray bottle of water on EVERY seam. And while the fabric does seem ever so slightly more dense than “regular” quilting cotton, my stitches came out beautifully!
I loved the look of this collection SO much, that I got enough fabric to make TWO quilts! And seeing as how easy this first quilt was to make, I’m not remotely concerned about starting the second quilt.
I always recommend getting the fat quarter bundle of any collection because you get every print in the entire collection. And the Squared Up quilt pattern is fat quarter friendly! Consider getting your bundle soon as this collection seems hard to find!
