Home Town Holiday- Project Pouch
Lori Holt’s Home Town Holiday fabric collection is warm, cozy and embracing. When I first saw it, the saturated colored prints and cream colored backgrounds caught my attention. I immediately wanted to create with it and I took inspiration from some of my favorites sources- byAnnie’s patterns and Lori Holt’s Spelling Bee book.
The PieceKeeper pattern byAnnie is a free, skill-builder pouch pattern with accompanying videos that can showcase patchwork or big prints. While the original PieceKeeper is a great size, I wanted something a little more narrow and square-ish that I could use while traveling to pack outfits for special occasions or to hold projects in progress. I also wanted to feature a cute flower-in-a-jar block from Lori Holt’s Spelling Bee book, so instead of a horizontal band across the bottom of the pouch, I put a vertical block on the left side.
The back of the pouch is an wide-open space that can feature your favorite print or collection of favorite prints. I chose the latter and did a simple patchwork of 2.5 inch squares, alternating between a bright print and a cream colored low volume print.
My absolute favorite print in the collection is the Flowerbud Latte print. I used it for the background of the block on the front of the pouch and for the lining. The colors are warm and subtle. My seccond favorite is the Starflower Cider print that I used for petals of the flower. The color is a deep mustard and the scattered stars are darling.
For the zipper, I chose deep eggplant purple color. It’s a color that isn’t in the collection but I feel it blends right in brings.
All the prints in this collection are stunning and will make any project, big or small, look amazing. I’m looking forward to using this pouch when I travel and I know that whenever I see it in my suitcase it will make me feel less home sick.
Happy sewing!
