Off to the Lake!
This time of year brings with it summer break and vacations at the lake. Getting “away from it all” allows you to absorb everything nature has to offer from bird watching to fishing from a canoe in the middle of the lake. The newest collection, Wake at the Lake by Tara Reed, encompasses all those good times at the lake in one beautiful collection.
This collection is made up of colors you would find in nature like the navy blues of the lake water, the light browns of the sand at the lakeshore, the light blues of the sky above and the dark browns of the woods around the lake. These natural tones will compliment your home.
The Wake at the Lake collection includes 16 prints and two panels which leaves you with endless options to let your creativity run free. I decided to make a throw size quilt using the Simply Done quilt pattern from Anna at Fresh Dew Drops.
I selected eight prints from the Wake at the Lake collection and paired it with Riley Blake Designs basic Cloud Texture. While I only used eight prints, adding more prints from the collection would offer a larger mix of prints in your quilt. For that I highly recommend either the Wake at the Lake fat quarter bundle or 10″ stacker as both will provide all the prints in the collection.
This quilt would be perfect to layout on after a long day of swimming in the lake. As the sun sleepily dips below the horizon the night lights start to waken and prepare to put on a show! Cue the lightning bugs and shooting stars!
To give this quilt the perfect finishing touch, I selected the Loon Lake pantograph from Urban Elementz which features two kinds of birds, a canoe and paddle and trees.
While the Simply Done quilt pattern is an easy make that comes together quickly, I of course made a free tutorial walking you through my process of making this beautiful quilt!
