Crayon Roll Sewing Pattern – Easy Sewing for Beginners Project
This Crayon Roll Sewing Pattern is a quick and easy project for beginners, to use as party favors, stocking stuffers, road trip activities or to just throw in your purse or bag to whip out when the kids need a distraction (and you don’t want to give them your phone). It’s also budget-friendly: make two rolls from only ¼ yard of fabric.
No matter how old I get, I LOVE CRAYONS! The colors, the smell, the joy of coloring… some of my favorite gifts as a child were things to organize creative supplies. From paint brushes to pens, colored pencils and of course… crayons.
In the video below I show you how to make a crayon roll that includes a pocket for a mini notebook so you are never caught without paper. You can skip that and add more slots for crayons of course. I made a few to perfect how and where to add the notebook pocket, the hook & loop tape closures and more (so you can get yours right, right out of the gate.)

I used two of the floral prints from my Happy at Home fabric collection but any fabric will work. If I’d had some of the Crayola® fabric from Riley Blake I would have used that!
** NOTE ** since filming this video I’ve learned that the Frixion pens are meant for fabric – please use a pencil for drawing your lines, Riley Blake has really cute ones with quilt blocks on them!
Leave a comment and let me know who you will make these for and how you will use them. I’m going to make a few to donate for the holidays – I like to give creative supplies like paint sets, paper and notebooks. This year’s crayons won’t be in a boring box but a fun, fabric crayon roll!
