The Little Things Quilt

Hello fellow quilters! I’m Karlyn from Charlie Bear Quilts, here to rave about these vintage floral prints from Lisa Audit’s newest collection! They are giving me rural Italian vibes. (Not that I’ve been there, but this is where my imagination takes me….) And what is it about plaids and gingham?? It’s like the magic formula for c-o-z-y. The Little Things Quilt is all about embracing life’s simple pleasures. Like a good book on a rainy day at the cabin. This colour palette makes we want to take a nap with the window open. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to combine my love of plaids and florals!

Hearts + Log Cabin = One Adorable Block

Combining whimsical hearts with traditional blocks is my favourite thing! And I love how the log cabin pattern looks soooo different depending on how you arrange the blocks. Simply turning a block in a set pattern gives you endless options. This is the fun part of quilting too, because you get to make it your own. It’s like a Choose Your Own Adventure book:) Which option is your favourite?

Cozy Comfort

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but isn’t there something about a quilt over a banister?? I’m hoooooome!

Everyone needs a place to retreat; a spot where the world grows quiet enough for the soul to speak.

I decided to use the low volume prints featuring farmhouse scenery and florals for the hearts. This provides a pleasing contrast next to the classic geometric and bold floral prints.

This quilt is made up of one alternating block in two different colour ways. For each block, I paired a geometric print with a floral one, and I was so charmed with the combination. Lisa Audit’s florals are breathtaking- especially the hero prints… which is why I had to use both Storm Main and Red Main. They are even MORE stunning in person.
