A New Quilt Pattern with The Tale of Peter Rabbit
A little Peter Rabbit inspiration…
Even the smallest one can change the world.
I’m Karlyn of Charlie Bear Quilts, back to tell you about the sweetest collection that is sure to bring back childhood memories. Beatrix Potter, beloved English author and illustrator, is best known for the world she created with iconic Peter Rabbit at its center. As a child, I was drawn to this mischievous rabbit and his adventures in Mr. McGregor’s garden. Though this story was first published in 1902, it remains timeless- captivating readers of all ages for generations. Do you remember the cast? Benjamin Bunny, Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, and Squirrel Nutkin. Each character had their own unique personality, but aside from charming characters, it was Potter’s detailed watercolour illustrations that brought these stories to life in a heartwarming way. And now you can have all this nostalgic allure in a quilt!! Jackpot!

Did you spot the sherpa backing?? It was the closet thing I could find that resembled a bunny tail!
The Freebie
Check out our Sweet Secrets Pillow Pattern! The center heart features a little hiding pocket. Personally, I would squirrel candy away in there- but it also works as a tooth fairy pillow. And the best part?? It’s a FREE pattern. Sign up for our email list and receive this pattern as a gift: Sweet Secrets Pillow Pattern
I can’t get enough of the background print: dainty carrots, onions and lettuce. Forget ditsy florals, I am now into ditsy veggies!
Let’s Make a Sweet Secrets Pillow!
If you are someone who loves making handmade gifts, this pillow will become an instant favourite. Receiving a toothfairy pillow is a right of passage… the type of gift that ends up in a hope chest to one day be passed down. You can whip this guy up in under an hour!
The Panels
I love a good panel for a wholecloth quilt. Makes the perfect baby shower gift! I love the size- it works for a car seat or crib and makes the most darling future “foot-of-the-bed” throw. Here I have quilted the panel with Sassafrass pantograph by Urban Elementz. I wanted to keep with Potter’s naturalistic themes, and I felt this one added to the storybook vibe.
The Stuffies!
And last, but certainly not least, the panel featuring these famous characters is such a fast and easy way to add something special to your next baby gift. I even cut out their names and sewed them to leftover scraps to make poor man’s neckties.
Happy Quilting
I hope you enjoyed this Peter Rabbit trip down memory lane! It’s a fun collection to sew with, and there are so many opportunities to add your own creative touches using the panels from The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Pair your finished quilt with a stuffy and copy of one of Beatrix Potter’s masterpieces and you have the perfect gift. Happy sewing!

This is an amazing blog post! The pictures are gorgeous, the tutorial is easy to follow and the details are so cute. I especially loved the little bow containing the character’s name on each of the rabbit stuffies. Thank you for sharing all these great projects and for the inspiration!
