WeeBillow Bag with Barbie™ World

Hi Makers, Sara from @SaraBQuilts to talk about the funnest new Riley Blake Designs collection, Barbie World!! As a child of the 80s and early 90s, a major childhood dream was owning the hot pink Barbie corvette for all of Barbie’s adventures. Every Christmas, I received the Special Edition Holiday Barbie from Santa, which I still have all boxed up and never played with. So, needless to say, I was thrilled to work with Barbie World from Riley Blake Designs! 

I chose to make Laura Cunningham’s (@SweetCinnamonRoses) WeeBillow Bag to show off the Barbie World prints and to make my 3 year old neighbor’s dreams come true with her very own Barbie purse! Laura’s pattern can be found here. 

For the front pocketed side of the bag, the Barbie Dolls in Powder and the Pink Barbie Stripe fabrics complimented each other and were so sweet matched with the Hot Pink and Teal Barbie Gingham. I chose the Hot Pink Barbie Glasses as the main fabric of the bag as a fun backdrop to all the Barbie goodness! 

The Hot Pink Barbie Main on the back of the WeeBillow Bag was accentuated by the diagonal quilting, making each Barbie face stand out. The Barbie World collection had such a diverse selection of Barbies and occupations. I loved seeing Astronaut Barbie and Firefighter Barbie on the bag! 

I finished the WeeBillow bag off with hot pink plastic hardware, a teal striped zipper, and a silver daisy zipper pull. A scrappy fabric strap with all of the Barbie World prints completed the look and made it ready for everything my little neighbor needs to tote around! 

No Barbie purse is complete without a little pouch to store Barbie’s shoes in. Laura Cunningham also created the I Heart You pouch pattern that allows you to customize the heart shape and size that you want. I chose a tiny 3” heart just big enough to fit a few pairs of Barbie’s favorite heels. Laura’s I Heart You pouch pattern can be found here. 

The Barbie Dolls fabric is perfect for fussy cuts and was framed nicely by the bottom of the heart. The Hot Pink Barbie Gingham fabric was my favorite accent fabric and really makes the pinks in Barbie’s outfit pop! I accessorized the I heart You pouch with a little white bow button, making it the ideal companion to the Barbie WeeBillow bag.
