Headed Home Quilt With Dancing Daisies
Hi there, it’s Amy from Ritual Quilt Company. I recently had the pleasure of sewing with Casey Cometti’s newest fabric collection, Dancing Daisies. This fabric line speaks to my heart! It’s got a strong yet calming color palette and beautiful boho florals that mix and match seamlessly. Perfect for a scrappy quilt!
This fabric inspired me to design a new quilt called the Headed Home quilt. It is composed entirely of the classic flying geese block. I haven’t always been the biggest fan of this block but decided to dive in headfirst and make a bunch using the no-waste (4-at-a-time) method for this scrappy quilt. If you’d like to make your own, please read on, as the fabric requirements and directions are included in this article! The quilt finishes at 60″ x 60″.
To make this quilt, I used eight different fabrics from the Dancing Daisies collection. For the “sky”, I used a half yard of each of the following prints: Wayward Chive, Skies Dusk, Skies Golden, Dancing Dandelions Dusty Rose, Blooming Gingham Moss, and Blooming Gingham Renaissance. For the “geese”, I used a combination of Flicker Ecru and Blooming Gingham Ecru. The fabric requirements shown below include an option to make the geese extra scrappy by using five different fabrics.
If you make this quilt, you’ll need to become very familiar with sewing a scant quarter inch (1/4″) seam allowance. Amy Smart from Diary of a quilter has an excellent article about how to achieve this here!

Dancing Daisies is such a gorgeous collection, and not all of the prints are shown in this quilt! I think the collection is absolutely lovely for a scrappy make; what do you think?

This quilt looks so comforting! Thank you for sharing your pattern and techniques on how to make the flying geese.
I’m adding this pattern to my list of quilts I want to make 🙂

This collection and the way you use it here is gorgeous! While no-waste FG have never been nice to me, this quilt and tutorial make me want to have a go at them again!
