Pleasant Prairie FPP Blocks with To Grandmother’s House
Hi friends, it’s Amy from Ritual Quilt Company. I recently had the pleasure of creating with RBD designer Jennifer Long’s new collection, To Grandmother’s House. Trust me when I say that I haven’t had this much fun sewing in a long time! This collection is playful, nostalgic, and well balanced.
The storybook characters provide the perfect opportunity for fussy cutting, so I created a foundation paper pieced (FPP) tent block to showcase those little guys. In my opinion, where there are tents, there must also be flowers, so I designed an FPP flower block to pair with it. Both blocks are beginner friendly, finish at about 10 inches, and you can find them for free here.
This fabric is so irresistible that I created an entire quilt with it! If you choose to make several of these blocks, you can play around with the orientation of the flower blocks to create different effects. You could also easily use one or two blocks within a smaller project like a tote bag.
If you are new to foundation paper piecing, Melissa Mortenson has a helpful article with tips for beginners here!
If you create with this fun collection, don’t forget to use the hashtags #ToGrandmothersHouseFabric and #RileyBlakeDesigns. Happy sewing!
